Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar Jain donated Rs five lakh to the Chief Minister’s relief fund, with the money saved by curtailing his daughter’s marriage expenses.

A government official said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis was present at the wedding reception of Jain’s daughter in New Delhi on July 7, to bless the couple. “The former chief secretary’s daughter expressed her desire that the money should be used for the welfare of the wive of farmers, who have committed suicide in drought hit regions of the state,” the official said.

He added, the former chief secretary appealed that people who hold wedding receptions should cut down on marriage expenses and use the saved funds for similar purposes.”Many congratulations and wishing a beautiful married life to Shreya and Sabarish Sankarnarayanan!

“Thank you for curtailing down the wedding expenses and contributing Rs 5,00,000 towards CM Relief Fund,” Fadnavis tweeted on Monday.
