Heavy rainfall in Mumbai: Waterlogging reported in many areas, Central line trains affected

From few days Mumbai is experiencing a good amount of rainfall. On Friday weather department predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the city and now it seems like rains have lashed Mumbai.

 “Very heavy rains in kurla thane belt and very very heavy rains beyond kalyan. The water from city area in Ambernath and Badlapur is gushing onto railway area, hence as a precautionary measure, we have suspended services from kalyan to karjat/khopoli. Our staff and senior officers are in control and field to assess the situation and take remedial measures. We are in touch with local civic authorities to ensure water discharge of city area so that we can commence our services as soon as possible,” said Vivek Bhavsar.

The Central line has been affected due to heavy rainfall, “Services on all other corridors of Central railway is running except Kalyan to karjat/khopoli”, says Sunil Udasi, CPRO.

Even some flights were diverted to nearby airports on Friday. Recently, heavy rainfall in Mumbai had inundated several areas across the city, including Sion, Matunga, Mahim, Andheri, Malad and Dahisar. This resulted in huge traffic snarls at major junctions in the capital city of Maharashtra.
